Gavin Osborn likes to think his songs are about that place between childhood and adulthood where naivety and innocence meet grown-up disillusionment. But they are also about computer games and penguins, so he's probably not the best judge.
'In The Twee Small Hours' was recorded live over two nights. The aim was to create one of those records you put on when you're padding about the flat at 4:15am, neither awake nor tired but ready for a cup of tea. Musically, Gavin is influenced by Billy Bragg, Ben Folds, The Mountain Goats and Frank Sinatra. This is because he likes funny, whimsical, bitter-sweet, political, twee little songs, but also, he sure loves a showman.
So far in 2007 Gavin has written for and performed on BBC Radio 4 and Resonance FM. He has done gigs with Stewart Lee and played guitar for the wonderful poet-songwriter-comedian John Hegley. There are photos to prove it. Gavin will once again play the sold out Regents Park Open Air Theatre with Daniel Kitson, in June and will be touring the UK and Ireland in July with Tellison and Encyclopedia, to coincide with the release of 'In The Twee Small Hours'.
